The Israeli military has said it has agreed to help evacuate babies from Gaza's Al-Shifa hospital to a "safer" facility.

The Israeli military has also denied accusations it attacked the hospital - the largest in the territory - but has acknowledged clashes with Hamas fighters in the area.

The Israeli army has stepped up its operations in northern Gaza, pounding the area with airstrikes and encircling Gaza City. Israel Defense Forces are expected to enter the city soon. They have been preparing for urban warfare with the Islamist militant group Hamas, which is likely to lead to a sharp rise in casualties. The Israeli troops have already severed Gaza City from the south of the territory. DW talks to Frank Ledwidge, senior lecturer in strategic studies at Portsmouth University and a former UK military intelligence officer.

Ukrainian children forced to leave their homes near the front line have begun to arrive in safer parts of the country.

Last week, parents were told they must move their families to safety from 31 settlements in the southern Kherson and eastern Donetsk regions.

Ukraine officials, who made the orders, said the fighting has become too intense for children to remain.

While millions of Ukrainians have fled the war abroad, the Ukrainian government estimates there are nearly five million internally displaced people in the country.

Israel has urged Russia to protect "all its citizens and all Jews" after a large mob shouting antisemitic slogans stormed a Dagestan airport.

An angry crowd ran through the airport in Makhachkala seeking people arriving on a flight from Tel Aviv.

Some of the crowd also ran onto the runway and surrounded aircraft there.

Russia's aviation agency Rosaviatsia said security forces later brought the situation under control and that authorities have closed the airport until Tuesday.

The humanitarian organization CARE has issued a statement saying what's happening in Gaza now is beyond what it envisioned as the worst case scenario.
The Israeli military says its ground forces carried out an operation inside the Gaza Strip, attacking multiple Hamas targets before withdrawing.
The Israeli Air Force (IAF) said it attacked "over 250 targets" belonging to the Hamas Islamist militant group in the Gaza Strip over the past day.
In a post on social media platform X, formerly Twitter, the IAF said its fighter aircraft struck what it called "terrorist infrastructure," tunnel shafts and rocket launchers, which it said was situated in "a civilian environment."
Israel has been bombarding the Palestinian territory, with the military saying it is targeting Hamas. The persistent airstrikes have worsened the humanitarian situation for more than 2 million residents in the Gaza Strip.
The action taken against Hamas has been in response to the large-scale terror attack the group launched on southern Israel on October 7.

Landlords in West of England are offering free rent in return for sex, an investigation from BBC Inside Out West has found.
The Ministry of Justice says this is illegal and even placing an advert is breaking the law and could result in a seven year jail term.
But the BBC found examples of adverts online and met some of those who had placed them.

British authorities failed to act on multiple official warnings about a website promoting suicide that has been connected to at least 50 UK deaths, the BBC has found.

The online forum, which we are not naming, is easily accessible to anyone on the open web, including children.

The BBC investigation identified multiple warnings to government by coroners and a number of police investigations, but the forum still remains active.

Families of the dead, the youngest just 17, say the failure to act led to more avoidable deaths. They are demanding an inquiry.

They're speaking out, despite the risks others may find the forum, because they want action now to shut it down and prevent deaths in the future.
